Peugeot 208 GTi 30th: The Film, The Legend Returns

On 27th January, at the 30th holding of the International Automobile Festival, Guillaume Couzy, Peugeot’s Marketing Communications and Sport Director received the Grand Prize for the best advertising film for The Legend Returns.

Conceived for the launch of the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th, this pursuit race film successfully re-visited the 205 GTi’s iconic advertising spot. To date it has had more than 27 million views, almost 14 million of them on YouTube.

“For this 208 GTi 30th anniversary edition, we asked BETC and the production company, WIZZ design, to guarantee as exciting a spectacle as the 1980s advertising film for the 205 GTi and making the same impact,” explained Stéphane Levi, Peugeot’s advertising manager. And to express it with all Peugeot’s sporting character and reputation as a player.

It demonstrates true technical prowess and was produced in 3D to achieve hyper-realistic results, with all the components – including the bomber, the 205 GTi and the 208 GTi 30th – modelled identically. For a worthy heir to the Peugeot 205 GTi, it also meant emphasising the intense driving sensations and sporting temperament of the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th, an extreme version of the 208 GTi.

Officially presented on 1st October at the Paris Motor Show, the film was very well received by the general public. Its distribution on social networks via a stable digital device under the hashtags #GTiLegend and #Peugeot208GTi30th has already resulted in more than 27 million views, 13.8 million of which have been on YouTube.
