GMC Canyon Hauls For The Holidays

Among the elaborate floats, marching performers and six-story-tall balloons, the 2015 GMC Canyon will have a presence tomorrow in the 88th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The all-new, premium midsize truck will be one of 55 GMC vehicles towing floats along the 2.5 mile route, which winds along the west and south edges of Central Park and down Sixth Avenue. GMC has towed the parade’s floats for 34 years.

“With the strength to pull the Macy’s Parade’s large floats, the new GMC Canyon demonstrates its segment-leading capabilities are perfectly suited for the season,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing.

Segment-leading power, towing and efficiency

The 2015 GMC Canyon is a confident-feeling, efficient holiday companion offering the segment’s best horsepower and EPA-estimated fuel economy: 200 horsepower (149 kW) and 27 mpg highway (2WD) from a standard 2.5L I-4; and 305 horsepower (227 kW) and 26 mpg (2WD) from an available 3.6L V-6. Canyon’s towing capability leads the segment with 7,000 pounds, when properly equipped.

“Not everyone needs full-size capability, but they still deserve strength and true-truck attributes that come in larger trucks,” said Aldred. “Canyon offers all the capability and confidence with the versatility and maneuverability of a smaller crossover making it the perfect complement for the holiday or any season.”

With a tight turning radius of only 41 feet, Canyon is ideal for negotiating the terrain in and around crowded shopping malls. An available navigation system that shows destinations on a large, eight-inch-diagonal color touch screen also makes it easier to find shopping hot spots.

Additionally, OnStar with 4G LTE and its standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected and on the hunt for last-minute deals. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial, whichever comes first.
